Compositing with Nuke: Mid-level to Advanced Techniques

 

Objectives:

  • To learn conventional compositing techniques using Nuke, including keying, rotoscoping, painting, grade matching, point and planar tracking, CG rebuild, grain matching.
  • To get familiar with 3D compositing in Nuke, including camera tracking, point cloud, projection, lens distortion.
  • To have a comprehensive understanding about the compositing process that’s independent of the compositing tools.

Prerequisite:

Completion of “Nuke vs. After Effects: A Realistic Comparison” or “Nuke Fundamentals Fast Track” course. Or be able to navigate in Nuke and have a basic understanding of the software.

  • Multi-channel CG rebuild principles;
  • Denoise and re-grain;
  • 3D work space in Nuke;
  • Camera tracking and lens distortion;
  • Generate information from a tracked camera for 2D compositing;
  • 3D projection and multiplane compositing;
  • Compositing FX elements such as smoke, fog, cloud, fire.
